Is it me or do shoegaze, psyche bands or any other bands of this ilk always put out records that have to be swirled or streaked or splattered? What ever happened to the good old-fashioned translucent colored or solid colored pieces of vinyl? So now that those keen observations have been met I just received the latest record of Baltimore’s newest shoegaze sensation, Wildhoney, “Your Face Sideways”.
These guys have actually been around for the past few years now but this time I finally decided to buy one of their records after seeing them live a few times. Nice lo-fi fuzzy guitars. Ethereal vocals that aren’t drowned out by the instruments. Amazing stage presence. What more can you ask for in a band?
What’s great about this record is that I can hear every song the same way as when I see them live. There’s not many records that can do that for me. If you’re into stuff like My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, The Swirlies then this is highly recommended.
Clear with black splatter out of 100 from Topshelf Records.
